Skypenosis (Skype Hypnotherapy) has become increasingly popular over the years. People are now able to choose the person that they would like to work within the comfort of their own home without having to travel. This really opens up many doors to someone like yourself as it means that we are able to work together even if you don’t live near Leeds. Having worked with people in the USA, Canada, New Zealand and across Europe Skype has really opened up this opportunity for others as well.
What is hypnosis and what are the benefits of it?
Hypnosis is a state of mind that is induced by a hypnotherapist. It is used to help people change their behaviour or relieve pain. Hypnosis is a state of relaxation and concentration. The person is not asleep, but they are in a trance-like state. The benefits of hypnosis have been scientifically proven. Hypnosis can help people with anxiety, stress, phobias, pain, and sleep disorders. It can also help people to quit smoking and lose weight.
How does hypnosis work?
During hypnosis, the hypnotherapist will talk to the person in a soothing voice. They will often use relaxation techniques such as deep breathing. The aim is to relax the person so that they are more open to suggestion. The hypnotherapist will then make suggestions to the person that can help them change their behaviour or relieve their pain.
Some of the benefits of hypnosis include:
- Improved mental clarity
- Reduced stress and anxiety
- Better sleep quality
- Increased creativity
- Improved focus and concentration
What is Skype?
Skype is a tool that can be used for speaking to people around the world. Skypenosis is just one of its uses. Many people are talking via Skype now with friends and family abroad, making new business connections and also making new friends
Using Skype is so simple. You can get to experience Skype hypnotherapy sessions on your computer or mobile quickly and easily. Skype can be installed on your computer or as an app on your smartphone. Here are the download links for mobile phones. To install Skype on your home computer click the Skype image above and then come straight back here.
Once you have set up and using Skype, you can then add contacts and use it for making voice or video calls. It really is so simple to have online sessions via Skype. Good wifi or cabled connection is recommended for Skype hypnotherapy due to the data demands.
How does Skype hypnosis work?
Just like regular face to face sessions, when we are working together online via Skype we will look at the therapy that is best for you. Hypnotherapy is a type of therapy that utilises the hypnotic state to help you to work through issues such as stress, anxiety, depression etc. You will still be able to receive the same level of hypnotherapy services online.
At the beginning of each appointment, we will discuss what changes you have noticed since you last saw the hypnotherapist. The hypnotherapist then talks with the clients about how to give them the best for the appointment to help them move forward.
Rather than having to visit the Leeds Hypnotherapy Office in person, you will have full access from the comfort of your own home. If your home location isn’t a relaxing place for you to be, you can choose somewhere else where you can be free to talk and receive your hypnotherapy online. Some clients have even had hypnotherapy sat in their car as being at home and having others know they were receiving therapy gave them anxiety.
You will have an appointment schedule that all clients can set. We will look at how hypnotherapy can help you as opposed to other types of therapy. Any anxiety that you may have can be addressed during your initial free consultation. This also gives you an opportunity to ask the hypnotherapist any questions you might have about the therapy that you are about to embark on.
As with any online therapy, you can access treatment from the comfort of your own home.
Online payment options are available. Most people in the UK pay by bank transfer whereas outside of the UK you will be looking at using Paypal.
What to expect from a Skype therapy session
Because you are experiencing hypnosis via Skype rather than at my Leeds Hypnotherapy office things work a bit differently.
The best way for me is by using video so that I can see any changes of expression or any micro-muscle movements giving me indicators as to what is happening inside of you. If your online connection isn’t strong enough to support video we can still run the session as an audio only session.
The type of hypnosis inductions that I use with people on Skypenosis are slightly different when online, but they all work to get the same result. I wouldn’t use a fast or rapid working induction via Skype for instance as you could have at my Leeds Hypnotherapy office. Instead, I would use a more relaxing hypnotherapy induction.
There are a few things that you need to make sure of when it comes to your Skype therapy hypnosis online session which I will tell you about in this post.
What Would You Use Skypenosis (Skype Hypnosis) For?
Having used Skypenosis for many issues it is clear that Skype Hypnosis can be used for all of the same issues that you would use face to face hypnotherapy or any other therapy for.
You might have issues with anxiety, panic attacks, over-eating, weight loss, depression, a fear or phobia (such as fear of flying), PTSD or just wanting to improve your life. Whatever it is that you would like to work on, you can do this just as easily with Skypenosis.
These will be your therapy sessions so what would you like to use them for? What is the one thing in your life right now that you would like to change? What will it mean to you to make that happen?
I can’t tell you right now exactly how your life will change for the better but you can imagine it now and notice how much better it will be after you have had therapy.
How to prepare for a Skype hypnotherapy session
If you are using a mobile it is advisable for all hypnotherapy clients to have a little tripod so that I can see what is happening while you are in hypnosis. You can pick up a mobile phone tripod for around £3 on eBay or Amazon.
Here are some other tips to help you to prepare for a successful online hypnotherapy session:
- Make sure that you have a good internet connection. Having to restart the online session every few minutes is just eating up time that you could be getting valuable therapy. The vast majority of households these days have a good enough internet connection for Skype Hypnosis
- Turn off any electrical devices that could disturb you. This also includes unplugging your home phone. The person on the other end of the line doesn’t know that you don’t want to be disturbed during this time so they will call regardless. Having a mobile phone vibrating is just as distracting as having it ringing.
- If you have pets either take them to someone elses if they are going to disturb you or have someone in the house that is tasked with dealing with them. A cat for instance will see you sat or laid down and see you as a comfy cushion. Dogs have a tendency to lick people when they are still to make sure they are ok. If your pet is a fish then you should be fine. I am yet to hear of a fish waking up their owner but never say never!
- Wear earphones or headphones. This will allow you to shut out some of the outside noise and as an added bonus, people say that it is a much better experience for them.
- Children works very similar to pets however you can’t put them in cages. Apparently.
Your Initial Free Consultation
Your initial will be pretty much the same using Skypenosis as it would face to face. We will start off by making sure that our internet connections are good and also that the device you are using is going to be the best method for you to receive online therapy.
During your Skypenosis hypnotherapy consultation, we will go over all of the different aspects of your issue. We will take down some personal details, lifestyle details and any related medical history that you believe may be connected to your issue.
Just like in a face to face hypnotherapy/therapy consultation. I will be asking you questions to find out how to help you best. You also have the opportunity to ask me any questions that you have about hypnosis or other therapy modalities that we may be working with. You might have some questions regarding how Skypenosis sessions differ from face to face hypnotherapy or therapy sessions for example.
What are the risks associated with Skype hypnosis?
Like any other form of therapy, hypnosis can have some risks associated with it if not done correctly. For example, if the therapist is not qualified or experienced, they may not be able to help the patient effectively. Additionally, if the patient is not comfortable with the therapist or the setting, they may not be able to relax and get the most out of the session.
To overcome these potential issues, it is important to do your research before selecting a therapist. Make sure to read reviews and compare different therapists before making a decision. If you are uncomfortable with Skype hypnosis, discuss this with your therapist and see if there are any alternative methods that would work better for you.
Some people may want to seek professional medical advice before accessing any kind of therapy services. If you would prefer to do this first you have that option by talking about how online therapy can work for you with your own doctor. Then we can look at the online therapy services offered together to come to the right conclusion for you.
